In “Dust of Empires: Moroccan Soldiers & the First Indochina War,” Nelcya Delanoë, emeritus professor at the University of Paris-Nanterre, will speak about Moroccan soldiers in the CEFEO (Corps expéditionnaire français d’Extrême-Orient) in Vietnam. Many eventually defected to the Vietminh, married Vietnamese, and later struggled to return to the newly independent Morocco. The talk should be of interest to faculty, students, and others interested in twentieth-century Vietnam, France, and North Africa.
