Warren Cockerham is a filmmaker, educator, and cinema technologist. He received his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2010. His early work in media access and advocacy led to the founding of FilmLAB@1512, a film and video program for teenagers in Chicago’s North Lawndale community.

He has worked extensively as a programmer and curator, with roles at the Florida Experimental Film Festival (FLEX), RISK Cinema at the Harn Museum of Art, Mana Contemporary Chicago, Anthology Film Archives, and Callicoon Fine Arts in New York. He has served as Technical Director of the Chicago Underground Film Festival for more than a decade and was recently invited to co-program the festival in its 34th year. He was also the founder and artistic director of Screen Door Microcinema in Tampa, where he programmed more than 400 events in under two years.

His film and video work is driven by an interest in power structures within familial and intimate relationships, and how those dynamics are shaped, obscured, or reframed through archival media—both public and private. His projects tend to resist conventional narrative, instead organizing themselves around a set of problems or tensions. His work has screened at venues across the U.S. and internationally.

He is currently the Technical Director of Film & Media Studies here at Dartmouth College, where he oversees production, exhibition, equipment systems, and post-production workflows. He brings over 15 years of college-level teaching experience, includingappointments at the University of Tampa, Emerson College, DePaul University, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Bennington College, where he has taught experimental filmmaking, documentary, and cinematography.
