American Film Preservationist to speak

Famed DVD producer and silent classics historian David Shepard will speak on his tireless work to preserve world cinema. Recent restorations by Shepard include Raoul Walsh’s early gangster saga, Regeneration (1915) with Philip Carli’s piano music, all of Chaplin’s Essanay and Mutual comedies, and Masterworks of American Avant-Garde Experimental Film 1920-1970.

Films to be screened include Regeneration (1915) Raoul Walsh 73 min; Police (1915) Charles Chaplin 24 min; In the Street (1948) Helen Levitt, Janice Loeb, James Agee 16 min.
