Professor Mary Flanagan's Tiltfactor lab worked with Sharyn Potter, executive director of the University of New Hampshire's Prevention Innovations Research Center and her team from the University of New Hampshire to create interactive games that encourage development of bystander-intervention tools for challenging social situations.
In this Christian Science Monitor article Mike Domitrz, founder and executive director of the DATE SAFE Project, says that"Without competence, fear will run the show". The key, he says, is to "give them skills that they realistically believe they can implement."
Ship Happens, a game featured in the article, "provides players with the opportunity to practice safely intervening in situations where sexual and relationship violence and stalking are occurring, have the potential to occur and provide support in the aftermath of violence."
