Profs. Stephen Young (Geography) and Paul Kelly (Biology) at Salem State University use satellite and electron microscope imagery to challenge our perceptions of scale.
Are they bumps on a coral skeleton or sand dunes in the Sahara? This exhibition presents images created by satellites and electron microscopes revealing patterns in nature which occur at different scales. Explore the images and guess which are macro-scale (satellite) and which are micro-scale (electron microscope). The answers just might surprise you! the exhibtion will be on display in the Film & Media Studies Gallery from May 8-June 5, 2025.
