Professor Mack's new feature screens globally

Professor Jodie Mack's newest feature film The Grand Bizarre has screened around the world this year, most recently in Berlin Germany and at a collaborative evening at Festival Animation in Poznan, Poland.  

Throughout this year, Professor Mack's film has presented at such festivals as the Athens International Festival (Athens OH), Portland International Festival (Portland OR), Internationales Frauenfilmfestival (Dortmund, Germany), San Fransisco International Festival, Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, Sarasota International Film Festival, Winnipeg Underground Film Festival, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (Karolovy Vary, Czeck Republic), Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (Madison WI), FICValdivia en Santiago (Santiago, Chile), Melbourne International Film Festival (Melbourne, Australia), New Horizons (Wroclaw, Poland).

In May, she traveled to Jeonju, South Korea to exhibit her work at the Jeonju International Film Festival, where The Grand Bizarre played both in the cinema and as in installation in the Palbrook Arts Complex, a re-purposed cassette tape factory. The festival, celebrating an anniversary year, also tasked local designers to make posters for films in the festival, and The Grand Bizarre participated. She also visited Ambulante in Mexico City, where she led a master class and workshop (Animating the World: Rhythms, Patterns, and Objects). This was her second trip to this year's edition of Ambulante; she conducted this interview with them in the blistering sunlight in earlier this year.

As mentioned earlier, in July Professor Mack had the opportunity to screen outtakes from The Grand Bizarre in a collaborative evening – Swimming Into the Ineffable with Polish musicians Sundial at Festival Animator in Poznan, Poland. On the way home, she stopped briefly to screen The Grand Bizarre at Wolf Kino in Berlin, Germany. This Fall, she will present her work at Doc's Kingdom in Portugal as well as the REACH Opening Festival at The Kennedy Center in D.C. She will be in residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts from September to November before directing the Los Angeles DSP in Winter 2020.
